20th December, Seberang Prai: Korean ruled the Mixed Grade A Masters finals of the 50th Penang Pesta International Bowling Championship after Kim Ye Ji emerged as champion and Ryou Ho Jun finishing as second runner-up with Mohd Shafizul of Malaysia taking the first runner-up spot.

Lee Jun Seo of CNTU, Korea got off the block with the tournament's first 300 in his opening game to lead Kim Ye Ji by 14 pins after the latter shot a sizzling 278. A second Korean, Kim Min Kyu of KNSU followed in third with 245. Lee added 204 in his second game to remain in the lead.

Kim only managed 172 to slip in third behind Min Kyu taking over second with 225. Ye Ji bounced back with 225 to take over the running. Ryou Ho Jun, who had a poor start with 153, shot 268 and 227 in his second and third games to move into third position behind Lee.

Kim Ye Ji added 220, 210, 222 in her next three games before easing off with 185 and 198 to take the title with 1774 pinfalls. Ryou, who trailed the champion for three games, lost second spot to Mohd Shafizul of Malaysia with 1732. Ryou settled for third position with 1703.

Faeiz Muhaidin of UTM/Malaysia and Nurzul Mubarak of Mangkuk/Malaysia completed the top five with 1674 and 1663 respectively. Perfect gamer ended in a disappointing ninth position. Kim Ye Ji took the top prize of RM15,000 (approx. US$3,300) and a trophy.

Mohd Shafizul and Ryou pocketed RM8,000 and RM5,000 respectively and trophies as well. Prizes were also awarded up to 20th position. The Mixed Open Masters finals will be held tomorrow morning at 10:00am. The top 3 with the highest pinfalls after eighth games will proceed to the Stepladder Shootout finals.
