Singapore captures second gold

23rd January, Bangkok: 2025 Asian Para Singles bronze medalist, Matthew David Chan captured Singapore second gold medal of the 13th ASEAN Para Games Thailand 2025 with victory in the Men's TPB10 Singles event ahead of two Thais, Raiwin Phitsitthanakul and Preecha Wetchkama settling for the silver and bronze.

Sallehuddin Md Seruji of Brunei got off well with 186 in his opening game to lead Agus Supriyanto of Indonesia by 10 pins followed by Chan in third, a firther two pins adrift. Chan then blitzed the lanes with a sizzling 280 to not only take over the lead but immediately built up a massive gap.

Despite an average 182 in the third game, the Singaporean still remain in a comfortable lead. Raiwin Phitsitthanakul added 192 and 233 in his second and third games to draw closer to the lead.

Chan ended superbly with 235, 211 and 227 to breeze to victory with 1309 and delivering the second gold medal for Singapore. Phitsitthanakul settled for the silver medal with 1175, 134 pins adrift. Wetchkama ended stongly to clinch the bronze medal with 1169.

Muhamad Amin Bin Abd Rashid of Malaysia missed the podium by a distant 66 pins finishing fourth with 1103. The Men's TPB10 will contest their Singles event later this afternoon. Competition will shift to the Doubles commencing tomorrow with TPB1+2/TPB1+3 and TPB2+2 in the morning and TPB4+4 in the afternoon. The Doubles TPB9+9 and TPB10+10 will conclude the tenpin bowling competition of the games on January 24.
