31st May, Petaling Jaya: Aiden Lim Zen Yao of PTBPP/MMC captured the Mixed Graded Masters title of the Kuala Lumpur International Open Bowling Championships 2025 while Intan Qistina Tamring of PTBNS, Sabah, picked up the Women's crown late Saturday.

Chong Yew Jin of Xproshop and ex-international, Kang Bo Long of ASF Tax, Malaysia both got off the block brilliantly with 279 in their opening game to lead Wan Syahmin Razin of SBB in second with 278. Haiffa Hazlan of HPS was third with 251 and Aiden Lim in fourth with 248. Chong's lead was short-lived as Lim took over the running with a sizzling 278 in his second game.

Kang trailed the lead by 22 pins following his second game of 225. Wan Syahmi and Chong slipped down to third and fourth. A stronger 243 in the third game saw Kang moving into the lead with Lim trailing in second, 8 pins adrift. The Penangnite added 217 and 243 to stretch his to 78 as Kang continued to trail in second.

Lim wrapped up his superb effort with 234, 225, 199 and 201 to take a well-deserved victory with 1845 total. Sunway Megalanes' Abang Afiq Yazid stormed home with a big game of 268 to snatch second position with 1820. Storm Thailand's Phumin Klanbida clinched third position with 1807.


Mixed Graded top 3 winners with their trophies and prizes

Intan Qistina Tamring of PTBNS Sabah finished fourth with 1800 and was also awarded the Women's title. Muhammad Zharfan of UPSI rounded out the top five with 1773. Early leader, Kang fizzled off to end in sixth position with 1764.

Noratiqah Syauqina Binti Hasmidi of UPSI, who finished seventh with 1762, was awarded second in the Women's division while Haiffa Hazlan of HPS, Kuala Lumpur took the Women's third spot with 1718. Pace-setters, Chong and Wan Syahmin managed ninth and 12th positions.

Lim earned RM20,000 (approx. US$4,700) as champion of the Mixed Graded division with the Abang Afiq and Phumin taking home RM10,000 and RM6,000 respectively as first and second runners-up. The women champion picked up RM4,000 with Noratiqah and Haiffa pocketing RM2,000 and RM1,000.

The top 8 women and top 28 qualifiers in the Mixed pool will contest the Open Division Finals tomorrow at 10:00hrs. The champion could come away with the top prize of RM30,000.
