Malaysia adds two more gold, Indonesia adds one

24th January, Bangkok: Malaysia added two more gold medals taking their tally to five after winning the TPB1+2/TPB1+3 and TPB4+4 Doubles event of the 13t ASEAN Para Games Thailand 2025 while Indonesia added their second gold with victory in the TPB2+2 Doubles.

TPB1 Singles silver medalist, Mohd Suhairi Bin Abd Kadir and TPB3 Singles gold medalist, Mohd Rizal Bin Hassan took a convincing victory in the Doubles TPB1+2/TPB1+3 event, amassing a total of 1872, boosted by Mohd Rizal's six-game score of 1211.

Singapore's pair of Kelvin Goh Jong Theng and Wendy Wong Kim Yin started the block in the lead with 290 but was closely followed by the Malaysian pair in second, 11 pins adrift. Mohd Suhairi and Mohd Rizal added a superb 368 to take over the lead.

They went on to end with a comfortable 77 pins margin over Singapore, who totaled 1795 for the silver medal. Thailand's Methini Wongchomphu and Denpong Chantaramanee claimed the bronze medal with 1741. The second Thai pair missed the podium after ending in a distant fourth with 1474.


TPB1+2/1+3 Doubles gold and TPB4+4 Doubles gold medalists

In TPB2+2 Doubles event, Men's Singles TPB2 gold medalist, Kamarul Ariffin Haji Abd Ghaffar and Saidin Haji Awang Damit set a cracking pace with 357 to lead Martha Susanty and Sahrul Andreiansyah of Indonesia in second. The Brunei pair continued to lead right up to the fifth game.

They then stumbled to a poor 339 in their final game to end with 2041 allowing the Indonesia pair to pip them by 20 pins with 2061 to snatch the gold. Thailand again had to settle for the bronze after Weerapol Sangwang and Tanapoom Pugtra finished third with 2025. Malaysia's Ku Izham Bin Ku Harun and Muhammad Suhaili Bin Ab Hamid missed the podium in fourth.

Muhammad Razif Iskandar and Abang Yahya Bin Abang Azhar captured Malaysia's fifth gold of the games in the TPB4+4 category with a total of 2279, a massive 397 pins ahead of Thailand's Pakeenai Charornsong and Phongsakon Suaithong, who earned the silver medal with 1882.

Myanmar's Ye Phone Maung nd Tet Toe Aung finished third with 1729 but was not eligible to win the brzone as there were only three pairs competing in this event.


TPB2+2 Doubles gold medalists, Martha Susanty and Sahrul Andreiansyah

Malaysia led the Overall Medal tally with a haul of 5-5-1. Singapore is second with a medal haul of 2-1-1 while Indonesia is third with two gold medals. TPB8+8, TPB9+9 and TPB10+10 Doubles will end the tenpin bowling championship of the game tomorrow.
