Filipinos deliver first gold

25th January, Bangkok: Singles bronze medalist, Francisco Ednaco and Jaime Manginga finally delivered Philippines' first gold medal at the 13th ASEAN Para Games Thailand 2025 with a narrow victory over Thailand in the final game of the TPB8+8 Doubles event.

Prayino and Momen's TPB8 Singles gold medalist, Robini of Indonesia got off the block with a superb 336 to lead the Filipino pair 18 pins followed by the Malaysian pair of Ahmad Nazri Bin Hamzah and Rosheedey Faizal Bin Roslan in third. The Indonesian pair continued to lead the field after the second game as Malaysia moved up to second.

Thailand's Supparat Ponmingmad and Suphan Sinthusuwan took over the running at the halfway mark after posting a superb game of 372. Malaysia remained in second followed by Indonesia. The Filipino pair made progress to take up fourth.

Thailand continued to set the pace in the next two games to remain in the lead. Philippines moved up to second as Indonesia and Malaysia slipped down to third and fourth after two lackluster games. The Thai pair had a 47 pin cushion over the Philippines pair going to the sixth and final game.


TPB8+8 Doubles gold medalists, Philippines

Ednaco and Manginga ended the strongest with 357 to snatch victory with 1957 and winning their nation's first gold medal. Thailand managed only 306 to settle for the silver medal with 1953, just four pins adrift. Indonesia held on to third to earn the bronze medal with 1916. Malaysia missed the podium in fourth with 1876.
