Germany leads Team opening squad

15th July, Incheon: Germany completed their Team qualifying rounds of the 2024 IBF World Youth Championships by leading the opening squad followed by Slovakia in second, 67 pins adrift and Kuwait in third, a further 14 pins away.

Slovakia set a cracking pace with 268 to lead Mexico by 13 pins followed by Czech Republic in third and Saudi Arabia fourth. Mexico took over the lead after the second game but was quickly overtaken by Czech Republic after the third game.

The Czechs led for the next three games before the mighty German shot into the lead with 265 and 247 in the sixth and seventh games. Japan, Slovakia and Czech Republic were battling for second spots. Germany ended with 225, 214 and 235 to take the squad with 2212.

Slovakia settled for second with 2145. Kuwait, who was second before the tenth and final games, slipped down to third with 2131. Czech Republic finished fourth with 2126 while United States stormed home to complete the top five teams in this squad with 2121.


Boy's Team Squad 1 leader, Germany looking strong for a medal

The remaining 15 teams will take to the lanes in the second squad for their 10-game qualifying round. The top 16 with the highest pinfalls will advance to the Matchplay Round divided into two groups of 8. They will bowl seven head-to-head round-robin matches.
