22nd September, Bangkok: Without any showing in three events, Singapore men finally stepped up their efforts to take a convincing lead in the Men's Team of Five event of the 27th MWA Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships 2024 from early leader, China in second and Hong Kong, China in third.
China's Du Jian Chao, Shi Guang Ming, Chi Ming Yu, Wang Hong Bo and Qi Wan Kang set a blistering pace with 1322 in their opening game to lead Australia's Jarrod Langford, Chris Castle, Scott Robertson, Blayne Fletcher and Jordan Dinham 22 pins.
Singapore's Jaris Goh, Joel Tan, Nu'Man Syahmi, Darren Ong and Jomond Chia did well with 1102, eight pins behind the Aussies. Hong Kong, China's Jovi Ma, Keith Mark, Ivan Tse, Tony Wong and Wu Siu Hong shot 1082 for fourth while the strong and fancied Malaysia could only totaled 1056 for fifth.
Singapore added a sizzling 1090 in the second game to take over the lead. China rolled 1042 to slip 18 pins behind the Singaporeans. Malaysia was still in the running with a 1043 second game to move up above Hong Kong. Australia fell out of contention after a poor 842.
