18th July, Incheon: Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee, Nur Hazirah Ramli, Anis Hannani Romzi and Adania Mohd Redzwan made history by winning the Girl's Team gold medal for Malaysia with victory over archrival, Singapore in the final of the 2024 IBF World Youth Championships while Czech Republic won their first gold.

The first match between medal contenders, Malaysia and Singapore was a closely fought affair. Singapore had a good start but two opened frames gave Malaysia some breathing space as they made no mistakes. With a double in the second and third frames and another three strikes-in-a-row late in the match, the tie was done and dusted.

Although the Singaporean fought back brilliantly, they went down 211-221 for Malaysia a 1-0 lead. Malaysia kept their momentum in check while Singapore struggled to put together good shots. Malaysia sent on to win the second match comfortably, 236-190 for a sweet victory, 2-0.

The champion had defeated Colombia, 2-1 in the semi-finals three days earlier (201,201,202) against Colombia (196,231,178) to advance to the final. Singapore (183,201) had an easy victory over Norway (169,189) in the other semi. Both Norway and Colombia took home a bronze medal each as losing semi-finalists.

Czech Republic's Ondrej Prekop, Lukas Jelinek, Jaroslav Zapletal and Ondrej Trojek triumphed over United States, 2-0 in the Boy's Team final of the 2024 IBF World Youth Championships to successfully defend the title they won in 2022.

The Czechs, who has been doing well during the qualifying rounds in all previous events, eventually made the finals after ousting Japan, 2-1 in the semi-finals. USA took out Korea, 2-1 in the other semi.

The Czechs edged USA, 234-224 to take the first best-of-three match but could not repeat the form they display in the second match, going down 184-224 to the American quartet. The second match was a closely fought one with nothing separating them.

The when USA started to show signs of weakness, the Czechs seized the opportunity to take control and went on to win, 204-180 for a well deserved victory for their first gold medal of the competition. USA took home the silver while Japan and Korea settled for a bronze medal each.

Next up is the Doubles final, which will conclude all the finals contested on the final day of the 10-days long championships at Fiesta Bowling Center.
