In the women's division, first block leader, Singapore had a disastrous start with a poor 885 in their opening game of the second block to drop down to fourth. Malaysia's Natasha Roslan, Gillian Lim, Nur Syazwani (alternating with Faten Najihah), Nora Lyana Nastasia and Sin Li Jane got off with 1059 to take over the lead.
Japan's Haru Suzuki, Shion Izumune, Mirai Ishaimoto, Nanami Irie and Yuri Sato started with a stunning 1145 to leapfrog into second. Baek Seung Ja, Kim Se Yeon, Jeong Jeong Yoon (alternating with Kim Nin Hee), Ka Yun Mi and Jung Da Wun shot 1031 and slipped to third behind the Japanese.
Malaysia continued with their strong pace with 1049 in the fifth game to remain in the lead. Korea downed 1022 to move into second, 34 pins adrift Malaysia and 37 pins ahead of Japan, who managed only 984.
It all came down to the sixth and final game with Malaysia and Korea ironically drawn into a same pair of lanes. Malaysia had a slight edge over Korea right up to the eight frame. Eventually, Korea prevailed to end with 1054 and 6100 total to seal the gold medal.
