Korean, Malaysian women finishes in the top three

24th September, Bangkok: Team gold medalist, Jung Da Wun and Jeong Jeong Yoon of Korea ended the first block Masters Finals of the 27th MWA Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships 2024 in first and third with Doubles Gold medalist, Natasha Roslan of Malaysia splitting the duo in second.

Singles gold medalist, Daphne Tan of Singapore defeated team-mate, Shayna Ng, 257-215 in her opening match and a bonus of 10 points to take an early lead. Sole Filipina and Singles silver medalist also won her opening match, 249-220 to take up second.

Tan's lead was short-lived as Jeong Jeong Yoon won both her first two matches to take over the lead. Roslan picked up two wins as well to move into second, just nine pins adrift. Roslan's team-mate and Doubles and All Events gold medalist, Sin Li Jane spot despite winning only her second match.

Jeong lost her next two matches but remained the front runner ahead of Sin trailing the Korean in second. Team gold medalist, Baek Seung Ja had three straight wins from match 3 to move ahead of her compatriot. Roslan took over second spot from Sin after the fifth match.


Jung Da Wun and Jeong Jeong Yoon finishing first and third

Jung who only started to pick up her pace winning three straight wins and then won her next two with back-to-back 289 to leapfrog into the lead. Sin bounced back with 1 268 win in the seventh match to trail Jung by 17 pins. Although Jung lost her eighth match, she went on to finish as first block leader with 1856 with a total of five wins.

Roslan won all her last four matches to seal second spot with 1849 from six wins. Pace-setter, Jeong settled for third position with a same total as the Malaysian. Sin ended in fourth position with 1830 while Kim So Yeon completed the top five with 1817.

The women will resume with their second block tomorrow after the men completed theirs. The top 3 women at the end of the second block will proceed to the Stepladder Shootout Finals.
